Alessio Cursi is the mind behind the lirecento design. Creative and eclectic , founder of The Savile Company, he based his career and success story in the fashion industry on the creation of a high-level network , the study of trends, the history of fashion and society and the constant attention to the world of narrative, cinema, contemporary culture .

We met him in his atelier in via Rovello, a stone's throw from the Castello Sforzesco, one of the most beautiful symbols of Milan.

How did you find out about Lirecento and what do you do?

For me curiosity is fundamental in all sectors. Especially in mine which is fashion.

So in my various searches I came across lirecento. Then I discovered that the company had opened a shop not far from my atelier so I decided to go and have a look around… There I met Carlo and Luca, busy with the organization of the shooting for the new spring/summer collection. I asked them a few questions about the products and the philosophy of the project and we started chatting. Later we decided to start collaborating and embark on a style journey together.

What are Made in Italy and Italian style for you?

These are two of the main characteristics of our country, absolute references that are recognized internationally. In other words, it is what distinguishes us from the rest of the world.

For me, Italian style means everything… how we behave, how we think, what we are able to create in different sectors (art, design, cooking, architecture…).
It is the engine of our country and we must be able to preserve it in the best possible way.

Tell us about your style.

I don’t have a specific style. I have my own style. It’s a contemporary style but with some remnants of the past. I really like to combine a modern piece with a “vintage piece”. I enjoy adding accessories like bracelets that remind me of some trip from the past, a particular belt, a colored sock, playing with silk clutches… Matching a tailored double-breasted jacket with a colored sneaker and… obviously a lirecento chino (laughs, ed.).

You come from the world of tailoring; what is the secret to a “perfect fit” ?

There is no real secret. The perfect fit is a combination of different factors that are not necessarily related to tailoring. I am referring to the client's posture and personality, for example. You have to keep the body in mind, trying to enhance its strengths and most recognizable features or perhaps marginalizing some defects through the fitting.

One thing is certain: the most important ingredient is feeling comfortable.

Tailoring and lirecento. Tell us your ideas.

I think sartoria-lirecento could be a great match.
It's fun to mix tailoring with fashion every now and then. I already do it!
Especially in spring or autumn, it is nice to combine a tailored denim jacket with a gabardine chino in neutral colors, such as cinnamon .

Tailored garments can be very versatile, as is the range of lirecento products. They are two worlds that can interact a lot. In fact, in my opinion, it is something we will focus on in the years to come.

What are the colors you have focused on for the new spring/summer collection?

The colors of the new lirecento collection will be “easy” colors.

In the sense that we want to put customers in the condition of combining them with different garments easily and in different situations. For example, we have chosen a touch of blue that can be worn with a sneaker, a shirt, a T-shirt or a jacket and a loafer for a business meeting. Or green, a color that some of our customers consider a little "uncomfortable" but that we want to enhance by proposing it, for example, in combination with a denim shirt or a dark brown loafer or a simple white shirt.

Basically we have chosen colors that can be easily matched with everyday outfits, for a casual and elegant look.

Tell us about your touch of style in lirecento

I would like to be able to contribute at various levels of the creative and production process of the products.

My hand will be seen especially in the fitting, in the choice of colors or in the details inside the pre-built belt. I would like to convey to the customer my idea and in particular the thought and reasoning behind the creation of the garments. In other words, the work we do every day, every month, every week.

At lirecento we always try to create value through uniqueness.

From here comes the idea of proposing a capsule collection by taking advantage of the collaboration with a fabric manufacturing partner to create a unique pair of trousers, limited edition designed to further increase customer loyalty.
